More About Gavin Prest:

“I am inspired by all sorts of influences outside of photography the main ones being people, travel, life experiences and true friendships. I’ve had several life changing moments and each of these has made me realise how important it is to seize every opportunity given to you.

If I could give anybody any advice when starting up in photography it would be listen to others, learn from others but always be true to yourself.

I have always lived and worked in Hornsea, East Yorkshire. Educated at the local schools and colleges. As a local in the Hornsea area, I have always been involved with local projects and the community. The main one now being with the Hornsea Inshore Rescue. I have been a Coxwain for the independent lifeboat for four years.

Thirty years ago for my 21st Birthday, my parents bought me a Pentax ME-Super. at that time it was a hobby that came and went and it wasn’t until 2011 that I picked up my camera again after a change of circumstances in my life, and I decided that it was photography that I wanted to pursue as my new career. In 2015 I was awarded a Master Craftsman qualification with the Guild Of Professional Photographers and won the Adult Portrait category and came runner up in the overall photographer of the year competition.” – Gavin Priest.
