HIP Fest 2017 (Hull International Photography Festival)

This is the 4th year of Hull International Photography Festival. In this short time, HIP Fest has established its credentials as one the most significant photography events in the UK. We have worked hard to put together a stunning celebration of photographic art and we are confident of matching last year’s record of 90,000 visitors. We are particularly looking forward to presenting new work by the legendary, Ian Macdonald, who we have commissioned to create ‘Hinterlands’ in Hull & Rotterdam especially for the festival. We are also excited to be hosting work by our award winning patrons, Peter Dench and Matt Finn, the international IN&AT 2017 group show, the RPS Biennial and the wonderful Young Travel Photographer of the Year Show. There will be something for everyone to see and plenty to learn and do.
This year’s festival boasts world class exhibitions by award winning international photographers which will be brought together with the outstanding home grown talent of Hull. It also Includes opportunities for photographers of all ages and levels to participate in a program of workshops, master classes, and photo-walks. From 30th September to 30th November 2017 in and around HIP Gallery, Princes Quay, Hull City Centre.
Festival highlights include: The Great Britons Of Photography Exhibition, The Royal Photographic Society Biennial, The Young Travel Photographer Of The Year show, Spaces Of Sanctuary, Second Skin, IN&AT, Dench Does Dallas, Mother, Hinterlands & Harrodsburg.
Featuring photographs by the likes of: Ian Macdonald, Brian Griffin, Jocelyn Bain Hogg, Dougie Wallace, Lou Hazelwood, Marcus Bleasdale, Harry Bordon, Chris Floyd, Laura Pannack, Tom Stoddart, Peter Barker, Rich Wiles, Homer Sykes, Anastasia Taylor-Lind and Patrons Matthew Finn, John Bulmer & Peter Dench.
This ambitious festival is organised entirely by volunteers from the local, independent arts group, Creative & Cultural Co. Curated by HIP Gallery’s Alan Raw.
This Eventbrite purchase, is for a festival entry wristband. A wristband is required to enter most festival exhibitions and events. A small number are free and open to the public. Concessionary Student & Pensioner wristbands are also available for a discounted price on Eventbrite or (cash only) from the Lomography Shop in Creative & Cultural Space1, Princes Quay. Next door to HIP Gallery. That is also the place to exchange your Eventbrite ticket for your wristband. ID/proof is required for concessionary wristband exchange. Under 16’s go free.
Spaces on all workshop/masterclass events are limited. So to manage numbers an additional free Eventbrite ticket is also required for each workshop/masterclass event to book your place.
We also have one premium experience event for an additional fee; Matt Hart’s Street Photography Masterclass & Photo-walk. For this opportunity, you need to book your Eventbrite place at a cost of £20.
You will need to have a festival wristband to take part in all workshops/masterclasses and photo-walks.
