Lou Hazelwood Exhibitions: To Stain and Mediated By Glass

by Lou Hazelwood

To Stain is a series of found and made negatives, changed and manipulated by various chemical processes, both natural processes and forced processes of alteration and deterioration. Adding colour to this process is a highlighting of some ‘age spots’ and in some ways looks to reverse recent common habits of immediately aging & altering our digital images through Instagram filters. This exhibition is the first coordinated showing of this group of images.

Ever taken a selfie through a mirror? Artist Lou Hazelwood a HIP Fest 2017 exhibitor is collecting these to be shown in her solo show at HIP Festival 2017 this October/November and she needs your images. You can submit your images to be included in the exhibition to her by email at [email protected] Please send a high-resolution image if possible about 5-25mb and 300dpi ideally. You can use (www.wetransfer.com) a free file sharing site if needed.

Lou is fascinated with our collective actions, the images we all take and record as our memories. Lou has been collecting the images for ‘Mediated by Glass’ for years, because of her interest in how we look at ourselves and try to capture our own image. Lou explains that the mirror helps us to mediate this process of looking and recording and thus enables us to take our own image which then includes the camera/cameraphone we use.
